Graduate Certificates

Graduate Certificate in Information Technology

The Graduate Certificate in Information Technology is offered part time, consisting of four designated units (48 credit points), highlighting different career specialisations. The specialisations available are:

Students can articulate from this program into a Graduate Diploma or Masters award, or enrol directly in the Master of Information Technology (IT Graduates) and gain credit for one or more graduate certificate awards while completing the program. You may exit the Masters course with a graduate certificate (48 credit points) and/or a graduate diploma (96 credit points).

Entry requirements

Applicants must have a bachelor degree majoring in information technology (IT) with a grade point average of at least 4.5 (on a 7-point scale). Alternatively, applicants without an IT degree may submit evidence of work to satisfy the Executive Dean that the applicant is suitably equipped for tertiary studies and a course of specialised IT study.

International student entry

International students cannot gain direct entry to graduate certificates in information technology as they are currently available only as part of the Masters program or as an exit point.

Graduate Certificates in Information Management

The Graduate Certificates in Information Management consists of four designated units (48 credit points) which highlight career specialisations. The specialisations available are:

Entry requirements

Applicants for Information and Knowledge Management, Records Management or Web Management programs must have a demonstrated competence in the basic skills and concepts of personal or office computer usage (eg desktop applications, email, internet access); and a bachelor degree in any discipline with a grade point average of at least 4.5 (on a 7-point scale); or evidence of qualifications (for example Recognised Prior Learning) which will satisfy the Executive Dean that the applicant possesses the capacity to pursue the course of study; and at least five years relevant full-time work experience (or equivalent part-time experience).

Applicants for the Library Studies program must have a demonstrated competence in the basic skills and concepts of personal or office computer usage (eg desktop applicants, email, internet access); and a graduate diploma in library or information studies with a grade point average of at least 4.5 (on a 7-point scale); or evidence of qualifications (for example Recognised Prior Learning) which will satisfy the Executive Dean that the applicant possesses the capacity to pursue the course of study and at least five years of relevant full-time work experience (or equivalent part-time experience).

International student entry

International students cannot gain direct entry to graduate certificates in information management as the programs are offered on a part-time basis only.
