Doctor of Philosophy (Information Technology) (IF49)The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) is awarded in recognition of a candidate's erudition in a broad field of learning and for notable accomplishment in that field through an original and substantial contribution to knowledge. The candidate's research must reveal high critical ability and powers of imagination and synthesis and may be in the form of new knowledge or of significant and original adaptation, application and interpretation of existing knowledge. Topics can include multidisciplinary problems suggested by external bodies, for example, industry, government and commerce, with joint supervisors from both academic and outside environments. The candidate's doctoral work can be undertaken either on campus or at an off-campus location approved by QUT. The candidate's PhD will be linked with one of the Faculty's research themes. Entry requirementsApplicants must possess a relevant first or second class division A honours degree or equivalent from QUT or another recognised institution.
