Bachelor of Corporate Systems ManagementFor more information about this degree, please visit the course information page at New IT web site. Information is the new oil. It keeps the engine of the knowledge economy powering on, improving our lives in countless ways. Every organisation needs skilled information professionals to guide them in gathering and making sense of information. Without it our communities cease to function —businesses don’t make money, public institutions like hospitals and schools grind to a halt, and we stop enjoying the 24/7 benefits of the online world. If you want to play a leading role in the big information issues shaping our world, this is the course for you. The knowledge economy improves people’s lives through initiatives in health (e-medicine for isolated communities, health insurance and online sharing of medical records), wealth (the stock exchange, online banking, customer relationships, insurance claims and efficient business processes), and happiness (e-democracy, cyber entertainment, virtual shopping and online security). The information professional of the future understands the benefits that cutting-edge technology can deliver. They add value by helping organisations understand their information challenges, and by managing systems and processes that ensure success in a competitive world. They are skilled architects, communicators and project managers with the ability to motivate and lead people. The Bachelor of Corporate Systems Management will give you the skills and knowledge to specify and choose information systems, integrate them into organisations and improve them over time. The course is flexible, with the option to focus your study on areas such as information technology management, enterprise systems, information technology consulting, business process engineering, and knowledge management. Career outcomesThere is a critical, worldwide shortage of professionals with the strategic knowledge and people skills to do this kind of work. Graduates can expect to work as business analysts or consultants, enterprise architects, information or knowledge strategists, ICT project managers and IT infrastructure managers. Cooperative education programAn optional 10–12 months of paid work experience in a relevant area is available to eligible fulltime students. The Cooperative Education Program is a joint venture between employers and educators to better prepare students for employment upon graduation. Professional recognitionProfessional recognition for this course will be sought from the Australian Computer Society (ACS).
