Student Personal Home Space (H Drive)

When you log in to a FIT student laboratory PC, you should automatically get an H: drive. Your H: drive is a network link to your personal storage space. You can use it to store up to 500Mb of information. Postgraduate research students (PhD and Masters by research) are allocated additional storage space and may store up to 2000Mb of information.

The files will be backed up on a daily basis overnight. You will have the option to self-help restore files if a loss occurs or if you need to retrieve an older copy of your work. To do the above please follow this procedure detailed at the bottom of this page.

External acces to your files.

You can use FTP (file transfer protocol) to access files in your H DRIVE, from both inside and outside QUT. Connect to nas.fit.qut.edu.au using your QUTAD\username and password. If you are connecting from outside QUT you will need to establish a VPN connection. Please look here for more information about QUT's VPN service.

Alternatively you can map network drives to \\nas-public.fit.qut.edu.au\HOME once you have established a VPN connection.

If you are having trouble using FTP or mapping a remote drive try changing your QUT Access password so that it is no more than 8 characters in length and contains no special characters such as #, @, !, etc
