Q1. What time does the library open?

The opening hours for each campus can be found below:

Q2. Can I place a hold on a book over the Internet or do I have to do that at the library?

Yes, you can place an item on hold over the Internet from the QUT Library Catalogue site. All you need is your QUT-Access username and password.

Note that students cannot place an item on HOLD from their home campus if that item is in the library. If the item is on loan from their home campus, or held at another campus then a HOLD can be placed. See "Borrowing | Placing a hold" for more information.

To place an item on hold:

  1. Search for the required item via the library catalogue.
  2. When you have the item you require go to the top or bottom of the page and click on the Place a hold or intercampus request link at the top of the page.
  3. A login page may appear if you have not yet logged into your library profile.
  4. A page listing the available items will appear. Select the item which you would like to place a hold.
  5. Confirm this request by clicking on the Request Selected Item button.

To view your borrower information:

  1. Go to My Library Profile page which can be accessed via the library homepage.
  2. Enter your QUT-Access username and password
  3. Here you can:
    • View or cancel items you have on hold
    • View or renew loans
    • View your borrowing history

More information can be found at (How do I place a loan?)

Q3. How do I print in the library?

QUT's new print system uses your Student ID card, which is protected by a 4 digit PIN. This needs to be activated at the QPS Service Centre located in the Main Library of each campus:

  • Gardens Point - Level 4, V Block
  • Kelvin Grove - Level 3, R Block
  • Carseldine - Level 2, R Block

The old printing cards are phased out (i.e. no longer in use).

You can find all the necessary details here: http://www.qps.qut.edu.au/services/cardsystem/.

Q4. Where can I print and photocopy in the library?

  • Printing Terminals can be found on the 2nd floor of the Library
  • PhotoCopying Terminals can be found on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floor of the Library

Q5. Can I renew a book over the Internet with the Library?

Yes, you are allowed two electronic renewal of an item (provided it is not overdue and provided it has not been placed on HOLD). After that it must be returned to the library. For more information see "Borrowing | Recalls, renewals and returns".
