ELIGIBILITY

    • Applicants must have completed their Confirmation of Candidature PRIOR TO TRAVELLING
    • Applicants must be receiving substantial funding support from the relevant academic areas. 
    • Only one grant can be made per person each year.
    • Applications will be judged solely on the quality of academic grounds cited in the documentation provided.
    • A successful applicant may expect to receive funding from this scheme up to 70% of the value of a return economy airfare. 
    • Applicants must provide an official written quote (in Australian Dollars) for travel including airport taxes and single insurance.


CONFERENCE GRANT-IN-AID

    For a Conference Grant-in-Aid, you will need to attach:

    • An abstract or outline of your proposed Conference Paper
    • A brief summary of research/study program to date with a list of relevant publications.
    • A half page statement explaining how participation in this conference will contribute to your research studies at QUT.
    • A budget with additional funding sources indicated.
    • An itinerary
    • Statement about authorship (if applicable)


TRAVEL GRANT-IN-AID

    For the Travel Grant-In-Aid you will need to attach:

    • Period of overseas study
    • Why is it advantageous for you to take your trip at this time?
    • Location/s (eg. itinerary)
    • A budget

    The travel Grant-In-Aid also requires you to incorporate information on the following:

1. Outline of proposed program of overseas/study/research. In this description, please specify in no more than 6 pages:

    • Collections, libraries, laboratories, institutions, field sites, etc, you wish to visit and availability of access to these.  Please give an overview of the nature of the research work to be undertaken there and list researchers you intend to meet;
    • How the proposed period of overseas study will form an integral and essential part of your study/research program;
    • How it will make a substantial contribution to your higher degree studies;
    • How you believe the study program will enhance QUT’s collaborative links with other international universities, institutions or research groups; and,
    • [if applicable] provide a brief curriculum vitae of the principal researcher with whom you intend to work, together with evidence of an agreement to undertake this role.

BUDGET

Please provide a detailed budget for your trip listing likely expenses and the proposed means of funding from all sources - the Grant-In-Aid scheme, faculty funding, funding from other sources (e.g. funding from your Principal Supervisor).  Please also attach an official quote from a travel agent or equivalent authority for cost of travel.  Applications will not be considered without this document.  Alternatively, applicants may submit a copy of their official travel document if it is available at the time of application.
